Business Aviation Safety Review 2024

A detailed statistical review of business jet and business turboprop aircraft and accident trends since 1990.

The global business jet and turboprop fleets have grown steadily since 1990, with both classes now around four to five times safer than they were three decades ago. By the end of 2024, the business jet fleet continued to expand, while the turboprop fleet also saw ongoing growth, though with greater variability in annual safety performance.

In 2024, business jets suffered eight fatal accidents resulting in 21 fatalities, while business turboprops had 12 fatal accidents with 60 fatalities. The fatal accident rate for jets was about 0.04 per 100 aircraft, and for turboprops, 0.11 per 100 aircraft. Although both fleets have shown long-term improvements in safety, business jets remain significantly safer than turboprops, and the gap between their accident rates has widened over time.
